HND Nautical Science
The first year of HND Nautical Science course will be conducted at School of Maritime Studies, Vels University, Chennai and the second year of study will be conducted at CGC, Glasgow. Phase 1 is of 39 weeks at VAMS, followed
by 38 weeks at GCNS. Thereafter, 15 months
of sea service are required to qualify for
Deck Officer of the Watch Certificate of
Competency (earlier known as Class 3 or
Second Mates Certificate) examinations in
the UK.
Entry
Requirements :
Academic Standards : A
pass in 10+2 or its equivalent examination
with preferably minimum 60% aggregate in
Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics group,
and preferably atleast 50% in English at
10th or 12th standard
Age : Preferably 17 to 20 years as on 6th August 2012
Medical Standard : Candidate should be physically fit for sea service under standard norms, with minimum unaided vision 6/6 in each eye, and with no colour blindness.
